Welcome to Soundview Academy for Culture and Scholarship, where we are dedicated to providing an exceptional education that celebrates diversity and fosters academic excellence. At Soundview Academy, we believe that every child deserves access to high-quality education in a supportive environment. We offer a comprehensive curriculum that includes strong literacy and mathematics programs, hands-on science learning, and social studies that explores diverse perspectives. Our school also provides enrichment in the arts, technology integration, and social-emotional learning to support the whole child. Mission

All staff will participate in 2-3 inquiry cycles during the school year using the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) protocol.

All staff will analyze students’ data and inform students and families of their academic, behavioral, and attendance data by conferencing with students and families.

To prioritize intercultural awareness and expression through the Arts and athletics within the school day and extracurricular school life to support our core vision.

Providing all students with social-emotional support through the Second Step curriculum that includes the CASEL core competencies: social awareness, self-awareness, self-management, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

To infuse digital technology throughout the curriculum as a means of differentiating the learning experience for our students, including comprehensive, tech-based approaches to formative assessment that directly inform instructional implementation and development.

Exposing students to using cutting edge technology to create multimedia projects and develop their computer literacy skills. Introducing students to diverse technology careers with hands-on experience.

Partnering with Community-Based Organizations, Westhab and NYEdge to increase family engagement and provide additional support for our students and our communities.

Design opportunities for structured student talk, making thinking visible.

Pose open-ended, higher-order questions that require reasoning.

Hold students accountable for using evidence and academic vocabulary in their responses.
